The story

Built in 1965 by the artist James Hueter, with construction help from Everett Tozier, as his own house and studio in Claremont. Low stucco volumes sit under broad timber-framed roofs with deep eaves; exposed beams, river-rock masonry and full-height glazing tie the rooms to a mature garden, a lap pool and a stone pool pavilion.

Architecture & design

Exposed beams, river-rock masonry, original timber cabinetry and period tile in the bathrooms.
